On August Kurikka offers various activities for the whole family. During one weekend you can experience a horse swimming Finnish championship race, retro and trendy music festival Rytmiraide, traditional folk music at the folk music concert and traditional Kurikka summer fair with various activities for the children.
Horse swimming Finnish championship
Come and experience “a horseful” of excitement on 18th of August. Horses and ponies compete for the best time in a swimming pond. Pony rides for children and café services including sausages, juice, coffee and buns.
Good music and joyful atmosphere at Rytmiraide festival at Wanha Asema in Kurikka on 19th of August. Performances for example from Perttu Hemminki & Solistiyhtye Kullervo and many others. A program made especially for Rytmiraide introduces Finland’s folk song treasures from all of the decades of independence. Daliendéo from Helsinki, specialized in Slavic jazz, will show you what groove is all about. Assembly of top musicians lets you enjoy a wide spectrum of music genres which you rarely get to experience in this area!

Traditional Kurikka summer fair on 18th-19th of August. You can find a wide range of local handicraft, clothing, local food and street kitchen dishes at the fair. There has also been various activities for children such as carnival, pony riding, fishing and animal exhibitions.
Matti Viitala Soitot are held in the youth association of Viitala in Kurikka on Saturday 19th of August. In addition to traditional folk music you will also hear modern music. In this traditional event you can hear music, singing and different instruments the whole Saturday.
After the evening concert there is also dancing music.
